Father's Day Celebration

July 5, 2009 marks the 101st remembrance of the first Father's Day Service. On December 7, 1907, the worst mining disaster in the history of the United States happened in Monongah, WV. Over 360 miners were killed. Because of this, the first Father's Day Service was born and held on July 5, 1908 to honor all fathers.

Join us, on July 5th of this year for a renewed celebration of fathers. The event will feature heritage music by Wha-ke-we-nn, free hot dogs, tours of the Father's Day room and archives. The Rev. Fletcher Golden (played by D.D. Meighen) will offer a historical account of the historical day.
